I am working on putting together a show with artists I have met through the
University of Texas art program. These artists, like myself, have graduated or
are currently studying art while raising a family. Because of the similarities
in our life experiences, I want to bring our work together to present and
discuss the different aspects of our responsibilities.
Because of this I want to show in a house. One that is located in a
residential neighborhood, but is easy to find and accessible. The work varies
in medium, but alot of them can be presented in an installation format. I would
like to leave the artists as much freedom as possible for presentation. And as
such, I am looking for a site that is available and open to slight modifications.
Paint jobs, drilling, nails & bolts, and fixtures will all be redone and the place
returned to its previous state.
I would like to have as many visitors as possible. So instead of pressuring
audience attendance on a few sporadic viewing hours, I would prefer a lengthier
7 viewing days to 4 weeks with a few days buffer for installing and take down.
Originally I was looking at mid-November as the ideal exhibition time. I am
still open to that possibility, but in the interest of producing quality work
and accommodating the artists' schedules I am looking at December or later.
